Peasant Dress, Attempt #1

This is my first attempt at a peasant dress.  I made it much more full than the inspiration dress.  It cost almost nothing, because I used a large piece of fabric I was given years ago:

There is elastic just under the bust, and also along the inside of the neckline.  Everything is just zigzag stitched together.

Yellow! (Kitchen Curtains And Tablecloth)

I decided to add some color to my all white rental kitchen.  I had been using some pretty sheer curtains with flowers woven in, but they gave no privacy at all.  I picked up some nice yellow fabric at Ikea pretty cheaply, and did extremely simple curtains, just folding over the edge and zig-zag stiching.

This is just the yellow curtain alone(you can click images to enlarge them):

On the large windows, I used florist wire to easily and cheaply hang the yellow panels behind the existing sheers, and I think the effect is nice:

A friend and I saw this very simple, comfortable-looking peasant style dress in a supposed "discount" store in the city.  Apart from the fact that they didn't quite have the right size, it was only made of quite thin cotton, and was $60.00, down from it's suggested retail price of $99.99!!!!!

Vertical Messenger Bag Pattern

After putting it off for a good while, I've finally made a padded messenger bag for my new laptop.  It fits my oddly sized Averatec 2500 series laptop.  I began by reading many tutorials on the Internet, and then measuring my laptop.  Then I drew up a patern in Illustrator, since I could use real inches instead of pixels.  I printed the pattern and taped the pages together.  Then I cut out the large pieces and started sewing.  After creating the basic pattern, I also made some changes and last-minute decisions as I sewed.

Gratuitous close-up of the fabric(which is more cream, less bright white in person).
